Executive Summary

Presented in this report are main results and findings of a Survey on Maintenance Inspection of Privately-owned Port Construction Vessels.
The Survey set up more than 270 inspection items over the major components of a port construction vessel, such as hull, engine and electrical facilities. For each of these items, inquiries were made on provision of daily and periodical inspections, inspection intervals, inspectors, technical specifications and judgement criteria.
Responses obtained from 59 companies, covering about 740 vessels of 24 types, have been analyzed in detail to determine current levels of maintenance inspection activities and their overall characteristics by inspection item as well as vessel type.
